Jordan - "Emily and I first met in Montana, having never met and not really knowing each other. She agreed to come on a blind date, not knowing that my whole family was going to be there, and made what could have been an extremely awkward situation seem very pleasant.
From the first day I knew Emily was something special, I was just able to talk to her very easily and there was just something that felt right about it. As we got to know each other more and more over the course of the weekend Emily's flirtations became more and more apparent, because well quite frankly I'm about as smooth as sandpaper, and may need a little positive reinforcement to make a move. I eventually picked up on these hints and asked if she wanted to try and take pictures of the stars, which she eagerly agreed to.
We started at about 11 and just kept talking and laughing until she suggested that we might as well try to get a picture of the sunset as well. Turns out the sunset wasn't even good and we didn't get a picture but that has been one of the greatest nights of my life. As time progressed and we grew closer and closer, I knew that Emily was the one for me. It took some time but she is everything I've ever wanted, and I just knew I wanted her in my life, forever. As we built all these memories I wanted to show her all these memories and attempted to recreate that first night under the stars. So I got a picnic basket, some tea candles, and some of her favourite foods. I got white lilies because she absolutely loves white, I did have to add some purple ones in there as well because I like to think that I'm a splash of colour in her life sometimes! I put the basket next to the river and hoped for a starry night.
I also wanted to surprise her so I waited until she fell asleep and woke her up to take her to this spot that was set up, and told her exactly how I felt about her. She lights up my life every day, she makes me want to be better and I'm so lucky to have her in my life, she's the type of girl that I've had dreams about. And I hope I can continue to recreate those little magic moments throughout the rest of my life, hopefully keep her on her toes as much as she keeps me on mine."
When it came time for me to fly back to Alberta. ( I hadn't brought my return ticket) I told him I would fly into Calgary. He picked me up at the airport, we both new that are first kiss was long over due. He stood there with a sign that said babe! I died laughing he was so cute. Plus he looked super fine. I was so nervous the kiss didn't happen till later that evening. The next day he left a note on the counter for me. Telling me how he felt and that we wanted to date me. I said yes. He was super sweet.
One of the nights we stayed up all night talking and then watched the sun come up. He told me how amazing he thought I was. I started flirting with him the next day (because I had to show him I liked him back) . As any girl would by touching his arm and laughing at all of his jokes. He soon caught on. We drove back to Calgary. Watched a movie and cuddled a bit being sure not to hold his hand at all. Then it was time for me to leave. (I had to catch a flight to Montreal in Edmonton) He went in for the kiss that turned into a hug. He then walked way alittle sad.
Driving home I called him, and from then on we were always on the phone. When I was in DC a few weeks later he stayed on the phone with me 24 hours at an airport to keep me company. Through the whole month I was traveling he was selling security yet was on the phone with me almost every second of the day.
It all started with an engagement session. Two friends that had served there missions in Toronto. On our way back from Banff they told me that there was this cute boy that I had to meet. I laughed it off and said sure, I'd love to meet him. They said that they were going to go on a camping trip and that I should come.
A few weeks went by, I had gone to LA, then I back to Edmonton. One evening as I was sitting working at home I got a call. I picked up the phone back there was no answer. So I did want any normal person would do I called back. I then got an answering machine you have reached "Jordan Michelson". I hung up. I didn't know a Jordan Michelson. A few hours later I got a call. "Hi, This is Jordan. Devan and CJ's friend. I was wondering if you wanted to go to the lake with me in 2 weeks" I thought that sounds like fun why not. "Sure, I'd love to go" He paused I think he was taken back by my answer. From then on I got huge paragraph texts from Jordan asking everything about my life. The texting turned into a phone call that explained that we were going to the states and that I need to bring my passport and it was a 5 day trip with most of his family. A week before I had been asked to go on a date up in Jasper, but I really wanted to meet Jordan. I ended up being an hour late because I was nervous and getting ready. I started the 3 hour drive down to Calgary to meet up with Jordan. I got to his house and knocked one the door. This babe smiled at me and invited me inside. He looked good.
What I've Been Up To : These past few month's have been filled with picture taking and designing ads for projects ( If you didn't know I go to school for Advertising) I'm also taking a black and white film course. I'm really enjoying the process but it honestly makes me so grateful for my DSLR. I'm shooting medium format on a mamiya 645 which is super nice. I'm also working on sending out Christmas cards and doing my best to stay in my apartment to hide from the freezing cold weather in Toronto. I would say that my relationship with netflicks has reached the point of pretty serious. As I've fully finished Friday Night Lights while editing and have a total crush on the character of Matt Saracen. I was honoured to shoot two look book's last month for some pretty talented designers and excited to show them to you. That's pretty much it.
What I'm Excited for: I've been having some pretty hard core wanderlust problems lately. I'm starting to save for a trip to Hawaii this summer. I want to go backpacking there and explore. I've googling and looking at flight pricing on a daily bases.
I'm Grateful For : I'm honestly so grateful for all of my clients that have been with me from the beginning and have booked this fall season. Thank you for helping me with paying for school and living.
